Tennis

Jamaica High School's tennis team had a stunning record of 9-1 last season, and made it all the way to the championships but came up short. They were coached by Susan Sutera, a well known coach and gym teacher at Jamaica High School. With a new season starting, Jamaica's tennis team is back with a vengeance to take it all this year.

Jamaica was 4 points away from being crowned champions, something Jamaica last saw in the 2002-03 season. Jamaica, who lost in the championship to Leon M Goldstein HS for Science by a score of 4-1, is back to take another shot at the championship.

As the 2008 season for tennis starts, "the plans for the beaver's tennis team is to make the playoffs, and win the championship" stated Philipnary Thuyamany, a returning player who played in the championship of last season for Jamaica.

They plan to make it to the championships by practicing harder, getting more experienced, and playing as a team.

Jamaica's tennis team is practicing for their new season to make this season one win better than they did last year, and that one game is to win the championship. The team is hungry and they want to take it all after coming up a little short last year.
